When we have more voices like you and me at the table, we have more of an opportunity to effect change.
Immigrating to this country at 12, I know how it feels to be marginalized. Becoming a single mother at 19, I know what it’s like struggling to make ends meet. Serving people whose shoes I’ve walked in and our community for 20 years, I understand the real and systemic barriers to opportunity.
I want to serve as your state representative to create opportunity for you, me, and everyone in the 37th district.
Building Economic Security
Workers and small, local businesses are the backbone of our economy. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic it is critical – more than ever – that we protect workers and invest resources into ensuring our small businesses can weather this financial storm. I will champion:

-
Supporting worker rights and livable wages: Strong unions and the ability for workers to organize for quality wages, benefits, and safety protections contribute to increased community purchasing power and a healthy economy. Domestic workers and gig workers who have been historically excluded from worker protections need to be included as well.

-
Protecting and investing in small businesses: We must ensure businesses have the support they need to get through this economic crisis. By increasing access to capital and incubation programs for micro-entrepreneurs, we can smooth the barriers for communities of color, communities with low incomes, and immigrants who may lack the necessary capital to start a small business.
