Andrea announces her campaign!



SEATTLE  —  Community Leader Andrea Caupain announced her campaign today for State Representative in the 37th Legislative District. This is the seat held by State Representative Eric Pettigrew who is retiring.

“I’ve always been someone who can bring people together who may see things differently and get them to focus on getting results. I’m excited to bring that style of leadership to get bold progressive results in our State Legislature,” said Andrea Caupain.

Andrea is endorsed by State Representative Eric Pettigrew, Renton City Councilmember Ed Prince, Tacoma City Councilmember Keith Blocker, community leader Nate Miles and many others.

Andrea Caupain works passionately to make a positive impact on issues of racial equity and poverty. As Byrd Barr Place’s Chief Executive Officer since 2008, she has built a strong foundation for future growth by effectively leading the organization through critical change and innovation. Prior, she worked for four years for the Washington State Governor’s Commission on African-American Affairs as well as a legislative analyst for the Washington State House of Representatives. 

Andrea served on the 501 Commons Board of Directors, is currently a Commissioner for the Washington State Governor’s Commission on African-American Affairs, is a board member for Crescent Collaborative, is an alumni of the Puget Sound Business Journal’s 40 under 40 and was the King County Municipal League Citizen of the Year in 2019. 

Andrea Caupain has a Masters in Public Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts from Evergreen State College. She lives with her husband, Josh, and their two kids in Skyway.
